Kimberly Walters Jewelry

Guiding the Sign of the Gray Horse in Woodbridge, Virginia, Kimberly Walters produces jewelry that ranges from historically inspired items to reproductions of vintage and antique pieces. Kimberly Walters offers a full range of reasonably priced jewelry, as well as sleeve links, hair pins, watch chains, and shoe buckles through her Etsy store “SignoftheGrayHorse.”

Ms. Walters has a passion for horses and became interested in equestrian activities through a riding habit commission undertaken in collaboration with Historically Sew and Cocked Hats. With the realization that she would be wearing a riding costume at living history events, it made sense to learn how to ride a horse in real life. This led to the acquisition of Southern Belle, a Tennessee Walker, and the creation of jewelry pieces that would be appropriate to the elegance of her retirement steed. Revenue from sales of her pieces now go to caring for a number of horses who have retired and are facing age-related issues.

Ms. Walters’ creations have been featured in a number of high-profile venues, including the Early American Life magazine, the American Duchess Guide to 18th Century Dressmaking, and on the front cover and in Colonial Williamsburg’s Trend and Tradition Magazine. In the latter publication, a pair of her Charlotte shoe buckles and pearl earrings are featured in a historically informed photograph.
